One of the lessons I remember from school, the difference between May I and Can I.

Every damn teacher between 3rd and 6th grade drilled this into our little heads.

Also how to say Library, not Liberry.

I must thank my teachers demanding proper handwriting, everything turned in written neatly.

I had some great teachers for the most part, except for two really horrible ones.

1. I had FebRUary drilled into my head.

along with the difference between May I and Can I. And the library/liberry thing.

None of my teachers considered mayn't an acceptable contraction for may not. I never knew why. After all, can't is an acceptable contraction for can not/cannot.

2. I had a 6th grade teacher with the contraction issue.

You did not use a contraction, at anytime with her.

She was a older teacher, about to retire.

3. I had a few that would nit pick on similar trivialities

I was as hard headed and stubborn then as I am now, and I took the deductions rather than change my habits.
