2. Isn't Joan Armatrading a true treasure? I got pneumonia in 1978 because

I stayed through an outdoor concert of her and Steve Forbert that I went to with the second-most love of my life...I gave Mary my field jacket to save her from the cold and rain, and paid the price (gladly) for doing so.

I actually found out on her by sheer accident. A friend of mine needed some money and offered to sell some of his records. I've never heard of her before then (was round 1982 or so,) but just from looking at the albums I thought this would be some great stuff (and it was, of course.) I got me some Randy Newman vinyls there, too. :)

That's the song that made me a Joan Armatrading fan.

And Randy Newman? Forget that crappy "Short people" song; he's written some wonderful stuff, like the song (I can't remember the name) about taking the train from Texas to New Orleans during WWII...Look that one up if my description doesn't bring it immediately to your mind.
