3. That particular homonym once got me into a lot of trouble.

I was in the UK a number of years ago and, to be honest, I've always had a bit of trouble with right hand drive cars, especially with merging and lane changes. To make a long story short, I was driving on the M4 out to Heathrow, missed my turn off, and performed a VERY badly executed lane change to get off quickly at the next exit (hit the M25 interchange, realized my screwup, and yanked the car across three lanes of traffic). The traffic cop pulled me over, walked up, and asked me if there was a problem.

"No problem, I just missed my exit and got a little pissed."

I realized what I'd said almost as soon as it left my mouth but, as it turned out, that particular officer wasn't familiar with the American definition of "pissed". The 20 minutes that followed were fairly unpleasant.

4. Dude, don't be an angry drunk!

By all means, get pissed (Brit) but get happy, maudlin, sloppy or just plain obnoxious. Take it from someone who's been know by all those adjectives!:toast:
