When I went to bed last night the temperature felt comfortable enough to sleep without idling the truck for heat or a/c. I awoke this morning feeling like an ice cube. It's cold enough to snow! It's too early for this shit.

I saw a guy with a window a/c unit, like you would put into your house, poking out of the back of the sleeper. He also had a large propane tank back there. I asked him about the tank and he said that when fuel prices are really high, the truck can run on a diesel/propane mixture and he gets better fuel mileage. I don't know how it works.

4. Tobin - it was 54 here earlier this morning...not so bad, but it was over 90

three days ago. We have had more 90 degree or over days this season than every year save one that these things were recorded...

I think we may be having as wierd a winter as we had a spring.

Along with some warm clothes.

I broke down a few years back on the coldest day of the winter when I was a local driver there in Ohio. It got down to 19 below zero. I was unprepaired for that kind of weather and had a scary moment there before help arrived because the truck stopped running and I had no heat.

14. Our summer this year had a handful of warm days...

we have had many nights however where the temp dropped down into the low 30s. Usually winter sets in here about the end of October...dunno what to expect this winter as it is unusually cold at the moment. Up at 4100 feet in the Oregon Cascades.

to be that cool right now.

A few years ago I was in Memphis. Late September. Dressed for summer.

A cold front came through and I froze my you know what off. No long sleeved shirts, no long pants. I was attending a day long outside event.

I had to buy some clothes. Very unexpected.

Since that day, I have kept a hooded sweatshirt, pair of jeans, long sleeved t shirt and some tennis shoes under the driver's seat of the car wrapped up inside of a big towel.

Also, put one of those throws in your truck. They work great for unexpected cold snaps. Better than nothing.
