I want to enjoy the comeback by the Philadelphia Eagles, but then I see Michael Vick
and it just ruins it for me.

I *cannot* root for this guy.

See, just there, he got sacked and I enjoyed it. And I don't enjoy watching the Packers do well. :dilemma:

2. That ol' McNabb looked pretty good as a Redskin, too - I am an Eagles fan, but
I have been following the 'Skins since they got Donovan, and I wish your guys every success...I think the Eagles were incredibly stupid to get rid of him, doubly so to send him to Washington, and I hope the Skins win against Philly both times this season.

Congratulations - your team is looking better than it has for years.

8. Their may already be a "quarterback controversy" in Philly, per the morning news, so
it might be best to celebrate privately.

16. The Cowboys beat the Cowboys. The Redskins just had the best tickets for the show

That game is always goofy, but last night ranks probably near the top in goofiness.

20. How could you tell?
You and I could have done just as well as Barron against him, and not spilled our beers while we were at it.

I love Orakpo--UT guy--but he's probably had tougher battles for parking spots in downtown DC.

i don't understand why anyone has to hope this guy does well just because he served a short sentence for torturing animals.

11. How do you define 'remorse'?
*IF* he's remorseful it's exactly the same as politicians...they're always sorry when they've been caught.

Someone who is truly remorseful will turn themselves in, not claim remorse after being brought down in an investigation.

He's never been remorseful for the horrible things he did to so many animals.

Fuck Michael Vick.

5. Obviously you aren't a true Eagles fan if you aren't rooting for Vick
:sarcasm: I mean the guy won a courage award coming back to make millions of dollars after being in jail...:eyes:
I don't for a minute think Vick is sorry for anything except for being caught- from his phony balony "I found Jesus" to his poor pitiful me, I have to charge money to let my fans have a birthdady party with me and a subsequent SHOOTING...They guy is scum. Feel sorry for people who were life long Eagles fans..until Vick came along

Hoping...no, praying that one of them big ole boys would put a massive hurting on poor Mikey Vick.

I keep hoping that "justice" will be delivered on the football field. It is, after all, a very dangerous sport.

17. Meh. Just a player to me.
So he killed some dogs. Most people's diet in this country kills more animals in more horrific ways every damn day. If I hated Vick, I'd wind up hating everything too much.

19. There's a difference between eating meat
And tortoring dogs for the fun of it. And if you want to believe that I'll go ahead and defriended you because I don't like bigots and that statement IS bigotry.

21. Bigotry? For refusing to hate someone? That's a use of the word I've not heard before.
I'm sorry, I can't see much distinction, so I don't eat meat. If I started judging everyone else by those standards, I'd be too angry, so I only hold myself to them. Vick served his time for what the law decided he was guilty of. He's just another player to me. I don't hate him any more than the dozens who get arrested for drunken driving or drug use. I judge him less harshly than those who commit domestic violence.

If that's bigotry to you, then sorry.

23. I understand the people who hate Vick, but I can't understand why he's more hated than say..
...Ray Lewis or Donte Stallworth.

It's not that I don't like dogs, but killing people would -- to me -- be worse.

25. I think what we're talking about here is not being able to root for the Eagles b/c of him
in particular, the cognitive dissonance in wanting to root for the team and yet not being able to get past what he did.

how bad is he compared to other things? well, i don't know...but it's not like i'm often presented with the chance to root for someone who has done monstrous things. in this case, i chose not to root for that guy.

I hope he gets hurt, and suffers mightily for years.

26. Football can be a risky sport. People have died playing it.
But it's rare. Unlike in dogfighting, where one of the "players" is pretty much guaranteed to die, and they didn't make the choice to play.

I'm not rooting for it per se, but if something awful happens to Vick on the field, I'm not going to pretend I think it's a tragedy.
