Please help name my...
Edited on Mon Sep-13-10 12:50 PM by one_voice
mom's new puppy (female). She'll be here tomorrow. Mom is looking for unusual and distinct name.

My mom usually rescues dogs, but this time she wasn't able to rescue, due to geographical constraints. So she went looking and here's who she found...

She was the runt (see pic below), who's hit a big time growth spurt. All ideas for names are welcomed.

Thanks in advance.

1. "Spike" was the first name that popped into my head.
I don't know how unusual that is, though. :)

4. Duffy is the name of my crush's best friend.
He's a nice guy. He's a big shaggy dude. He likes dogs.

(I have no point. It's a good dog name, I guess.)

15. Tourmaline
It's a crystal used as a gemstone.

As soon as I saw the color of her collar, I started to think of gemstones. You said unusual, so I picked an unusual gem.

19. You might want to get to know her before settling on a name.
That way you can have a name that suits her personality.

Congratulations to your mother on the new pup.

23. A Dobie?
Edited on Mon Sep-13-10 07:57 PM by femmocrat
I always wanted a red female Dobie. I would have named her "RIPLEY" (after the Signourney Weaver character in Alien)!

p.s. She is gorgeous!

24. She's adorable! I used to have a lovely Dobie that looked like her, named Phaedra.
You're welcome to it if your mom would like. My Phaedra was a lady, through and through...except for that one time when she ate the entire appetizer table for a party we were throwing. There she sat, a "What?" expression on her face, and one tiny nut from the cheeseball perched on her nose.

25. This will be my mom's....
third Dobie. Her first one, Tasha, was her whole world. She was devastated when she lost her. She said she'd never own another Dobie after she lost Tasha, that was 20+ years ago. She's finally ready for another, and this one reminds her of Tasha.

Your dog sounds a lot like Tasha was. We had her when I was in high school, and with five kids, the dog probably ate as many Doritos/chips, junk food in general as the kids. We'd settle in with a bag, and it was one for me, one for the dog and so on. :-)
