2. Just a summer thunderstorm.
This time of year they spawn waterspouts frequently.

They rarely come on land, but can be a danger to boats, aircraft, shipping. Hard to tell from the pic, but that is over water. Key West is only 2 by 4 miles in land roughly. We can see the crise ships from the airport lol!

It is very nasty looking outside now though...

3. My husband told me about one he saw at Holden Beach, NC years ago
I had never heard of waterspouts before, so the whole idea seemed pretty freaky to me. Now that I've read up on them, I find them to be a fascinating weather phenomenon! :D

4. Yeah, usually over water like the ocean
but they are made up of fresh water, not salt.
