WASHINGTON -- Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis said it's almost certain that a female reporter "is going to want somebody" when she goes into an NFL locker room.

Addressing the NFL's investigation of the New York Jets' treatment of reporter Ines Sainz, Portis said Tuesday that both sides have wandering eyes when the sexes are mixed in such a setting.

"You put a woman and you give her a choice of 53 athletes, somebody got to be appealing to her," Portis said. "You know, somebody got to spark her interest, or she's going to want somebody. I don't know what kind of woman won't, if you get to go and look at 53 men's (bodies).

I think Portis is an idiot, but the central cause of all this is the very reason I've long thought that no reporter should be allowed in the dressing room; that team policies and contracts should require athletes to make themselves available to the media before or after the game in press conferences or a media room upon reasonable request.

This is an issue that could have been avoided.

Not the first stupid comment from one of my Skins either. Some of the players a few years back made some stupid ass comments about dogfighting not being any big deal.

This goes back to the 1990's when some NE Patriots harrassed badly a female reporter.
Personally, I don't think ANYONE (man or woman) should be in a locker room. I know I wouldn't want a reporter of any sex around me....

Whether it's a male or female team, people are going to be roaming around naked, and if I were a member of a team, I'd be annoyed as hell about reporters of either sex being there.
