It's a sin that the most vulnerable persons in our society have to go through this ordeal just to get by, and so many people who qualify get discouraged and quit the process because it's just too much. Congratulations to your sister for hanging in there, and I'll bet a nickel she couldn't have done it without at least some love and support from her family.

We'll squander billions on obsolete weapons systems, but spend thousands denying or delaying benefits for qualified persons because some beady-eyed asshole is worried about few hundred dollars a month going to someone who doesn't "deserve" it.

My sister has been living with relatives for the last few years and the last nine months with me THANKS TO DU!

My favorite part of your post was the "beady eyed asshole"...

Jill said the judge was very compassionate after hearing all the facts and told her "you will have a positive outcome to this hearing." It will probably take a few months for the paperwork to be finalized and for Jill to start receiving her benefits but thank the lord! She deserves it.

then it shouldn't take that long for her to receive something. Maybe not all of it but part of the back pay owed to her at least. If she doesn't have a bank account it might take a couple weeks longer. Glad she finally got it.
