The first sign of Fall has appeared.
It's a little cool in the house now, and the cats have started fighting over the heated cat bed.

1. Pisspot underweight feline glommed onto me today
wouldn't get off. Did the "tea cosy pose." Really irritating, but she got her message across. I did her bidding--turned on the furnace.

Yes, my felines own me.

12. Those days are past for this year--permanently, it seems
Mid-50s outside (and rainy), likely the same inside (we have high ceilings) (but without the rain) when she convinced me to turn on the heat. Brr.

2. Some would mention the wisdom of providing a larger heated cat bed
but I'm not some people. They wouldn't understand the value of filming such confrontations and posting them on youtube. ;)

3. They make them in only one size.
Fortunately I have a second one, which I will pull out of storage and plug in shortly. It's way more fun to watch the cats argue over the available one, though. Right now the biggest cat has piled on top of the one who was already occupying the bed; this will soon cause the original occupant to feel overheated and squashed, and he'll vacate, leaving the bed to the big fat doofus who sat on him.

6. The first sign of 'Fall' here
is when you have two of more active hurricanes in the south Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico at the same time :P

Yes, this is when they start coming one after the other... :o

7. Ah, Minnesota. Down here in FL
the signs are at least several weeks away. My cats, though, are probably envious of yours.

10. At night, I, too, become the heated cat bed.
All three of them drape their fat, hairy selves all over me, rendering me immobile. The electric beds are used only when I'm moving around or not home.

11. I guess it saves on the heating bill!
Brianna (the calico in the picture) is a big honkin' cat, and she does this bearskin rug thing, so she really does provide some warmth.

Pippy is smaller and less of a burrower, but she does pop in to warm up during the night. She usually heads for the radiator to toast her buns.

13. I actually put on a light jacket tonight... kind of cool and also raining
I've been sending the kids to daycare/school with light jackets too. My youngest is 1 year old. Its kind of cute to see him walking around with all the clothes on. He looks like a tiny little kid... not so much a baby.

She's finding the hind legs of crickets scattered in her house. My little sister's cat used to herald fall that way at our house...I've never figure out why a cat eats the cricket but not the legs...

18. There used to be a commercial in Canada come september first where
a girl is walking down the street. All of a sudden she gets terrified and starts pointing. Tv pans to what she is pointing at and it is a red leaf on the sidewalk. That is so true.
