parrot farts

did you know parrots fart? or at least macaws? well, at least the one that lives here does - that is my only experience.

I was just (rather loudly) reminded of that fact by a sharp ppppppppt from the other side of the room followed by a surprised squawk. I think he woke himself up.

The first time I realized this phenomena happens was on a trip to another ranch for a meeting/party where we stayed overnight. I camped in the back of our jeep at the time with Watson the macaw. It was a most unpleasant night for me.

We are required to bring him to these events as everybody really likes his antics and he is a total ham. I will never sleep in the same enclosed space with him again!

1. I think they are all total hams. My dad had two of them for a while.

She was a real bitch to the male. After about six years, he gave them to a breeder who had a much larger flight. They're loud and a lot of work. He still has his green parrot and he's also a ham.

i suspect it would have to be one of the larger ones, with a long enough digestive system that it would trap some gas.

watson is a good name for a macaw. how old is he? is he a good boy, or does he eat the furniture?
