Today's College Football Tailgate Thread
There are a lot of mismatches for top-ranked teams this week – Oregon plays Portland State, Ohio State plays Ohio, Alabama plays Duke – but there are also some potentially good games. The biggest is #9 Iowa at #24 Arizona, which is the only game between ranked teams.

Also of note:
#7 Oklahoma hosts Air Force,
#11 Wisconsin hosts Arizona State,
Georgia hosts #12 Arkansas, and
Washington hosts #8 Nebraska.

So who does your team play today? What games are you looking forward to?

3. Oregon State Plays Louisville
Oregon State got frog-stomped a few years ago during Louisville's Petrino and Dumerville era.
OSU coach Riley isn't much of a retribution guy, like Erickson was, but I want some skull crushing.
The beavs are favored by like 19. We'll see about that. Shit happens...

I'm interested in Minnesota (spent time there) v. USC. Two teams with similar colors. Maroon v. Scarlet or whatever the F. they call it.
Nice stadium they got now. Beats that damn dome.

I'd jump on the dux playing portland state, but the beavs played them last year. First play long bomb TD. When Glanville was coach
he talked some shit how the Beavs and Dux wouldn't schedule them. I expect 50 at least hung on the Vikings. (Vikings and they wear green. WTF!)

Washington V. Nebraska. Am I the only person that thinks Jake Locker isn't all that? They talk like he's the first pick in the draft next year.
Really? I don't see the potential. He throws only slightly more over the top than John David Booty does. Surprised more passes don't get batted down.

6. I didn't realize the line was that high
but it makes sense -- Louisville has really gone downhill in the last few years.

I totally agree with you about Minnesota's stadium -- looks really nice and has great sight lines towards the downtown skyline. But the team is not very good this year.

I dunno about Locker--I think he's good, but not as good as the hype. It'll be interesting to see how he does against the Huskers today ...

2 of 10 for 20 yards with one interception. Not good.

I think he does have a TD pass in the 2nd half, though ...

I missed most of the game, but was able to watch the last 5 minutes or so. Louisville looked like they might make it interesting, but OSU's defense came through. Congrats :toast:

61. What defense?
Cor Blimey! If Louisville had not come up short on two opportunities on their first two possessions in the
first few minutes, It'd have been a bad thing man. Once they were stopped fourth and goal, the other time the ball was punched out of the QB's hands--for a touchback-- just before he scored a touchdown.

The beavs are helpless against a running quarterback. Hell, against a running back!

Bad days in Boise ahead if they don't tighten up.

One they forced a punt (though they did give up the one big reception) and the other with the interception to clinch it. So my perspective, apparently, is pretty skewed :)

They pulled to within two and then held Illinois to a 4th down at their own 49 with about three or four minutes remaining, but Illinois converted on the 4th down and then went on to score a TD. It's a 9-point game now, with just under a minute left.

26. I felt real good last week
I knew they had Clay but I knew what ASU had. I started having serious doubts reading the scouting reports. They average 325 lbs on the offensive line. The past two seasons, Wisconsin averaged 220 rushing yards a game. ASU is making changes on the D-line and moving players around to attack that big offensive line. All that stuff right there does not look good. Erickson needs to have his team to keep the penalties to a minimum. Currently they're 118th out of 120 teams in fewest penalty yards this year. Vontaze Burfict needs to shine and the game on national TV would boost his status to show that he is one of the best linebackers in NCAA.

Still I feel hopeful. :)

This is the same guy that returned a kickoff on the very first play of a game last year against UL Monroe. He was injured in the Georgia game and the missed the rest of the season. I forgot to mention him as a player that would be huge on ASU's defense because he is their best corner. Damn he is a great returner though.

Ole Miss is #14 right?

I can't blame Fresno State for trying. They schedule some of the toughest opponents and usually on the road. They have Ole Miss next week in Oxford. Ole Miss could be a very good team, but they're going to lose that #14 ranking which would benefit Fresno if they beat them. So far Fresno St is 2-0 with a win against Cincinnati this season.

It is tough for Fresno State, though -- you just can't always tell when a team is going to be any good. Same with scheduling Cincinnati, who has had a good several years but just isn't up to that level this year.

Clemson was up 17-3, but Auburn just scored a TD to make it 17-10. Auburn is ranked 16th, playing at home, and a 6-point favorite. (Plus, for taterguy's sake, I should point out that Clemson plays in the ACC, so there is no way they should be winning on the road against a ranked team from the SEC. ;))

68. that game sure started ugly for Tech
But they stayed composed, and have taken advantage of some mistakes by Texas's young QB.

OMG -- did you see the ref get taken out on that play?

69. Texas gets a nice interception return

to put them in the red zone.

I started watching. I took a break from the TV after the ASU game because this game wasn't supposed to be on about til about an hour and a half after the ASU game. Good game now.

Tech was able to hold them to a FG.

81. WOW! Michigan State wins on a fake field goal in overtime
I don't believe I've ever seen that before. Notre Dame kicked a field goal on the first possession in OT. State was lined up to kick a game tying field goal and send it to a second overtime. But they ran a fake field goal and the tight end was *wide* open for the touchdown.
