http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=519&ncid=519&e=5&u=/ap/20040329/ap_on_re_us/brf_california_quarter SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Conservationist John Muir and a California condor will be pictured on California's new quarter.
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger unveiled the design Monday. The coin, commemorating statehood for California in 1850, will be issued next January.
Muir founded the San Francisco-based Sierra Club in 1892. It is the country's oldest and largest environmental group and has pushed for clean air and water and protection of wildlife.

Some of the California designs were fantastic, others were among the worst state-quarter-designs out there (and there are some STINKERS). The muir quarter was among the best of the designs :-)

If not for John Muir, there wouldn't be a Yosemite National Park.
