The erasers on pencils made in China don't erase black marks when you want them to; the running shoes made in China make black marks when you don't want them to. :(

FWIW, they make some very fine guitars there now (Epiphone), and they used to make one hell of an autoloading carbine (SKS), both of which I own, and neither of which marks the woodwork.

I'm just saying if you want a cheap version of a decent product, have it made in China and it will be more likely to be flawed.

My son received a robot kit for Christmas one year and the parts were not sized to fit eachother, so it could not be assembled. The company that had these made in China was near San Francisco, I called them and the young woman I spoke with (politely) sounded exasperated with the situation. It seems that when having products manufactured there a lot of short-cuts may be taken, and opportunities for miscommunication occur.

You get what you pay for.
