1. That's the beauty and the curse of modern wetsuits - they stretch to match you
and not the other way around. :)

On mine at least the chest panel continues up a bit into the shoulders - it gives the erroneous impression of pectoral definition...

6. I was checking out one of those a couple of weeks ago.
One of the guys at my local surf shop was trying to convince me that I could squeeze through the opening in the chest. No freaking way that would happen. Is your suit an "Xcell"?

Mine is one of those "neck gasket" types from a couple of seasons ago. It is a 4/3 and in way too good of shape to replace. I would have to convince Alley I need a new one.

7. Mine is still a backzip (O'Neill something or other) but the smooth panel in the front
is wider at the top than the bottom. Still not slimming, but in the right light it almost looks like I have pecs. :)

I have friends who wear scuba suits that are chest-zips, and it's pretty funny to watch them dancing around trying to get in. It generally ends in me helping to zip them up, despite all the spiels I've gotten about the clumsiness of back-zips...

8. My board is a 9' 6", the other is Alley's 9' "foamie".
An old friend of mine made the mistake of telling me he wants to try surfing, so we have been paddling out the last few weeks. The first two times we went to El Porto. Today we went to Venice Beach which has a more beginner friendly break (wave).

Alley is frustrated because she feels she has gained too much weight, and instead of surfing with us, she has been walking while we paddled out. Today was so nice she is getting her stoke back and next weekend I am going to let her use my board and I will use Man-cub's. It's going to be nice to get my original surfing buddy back.

Surfing is a really hard sport to become even slightly proficient. After nearly three years I still suck, but now that my friend is starting out, I am now only the SECOND worst surfer on the planet.

BTW: If you think our boards are humungeous check out these pre-fiberglass boards.

9. Today it was warm and sunny, which has been rare all season.
We even went without wetsuits. The water was fairly warm for this year at 62 degrees, and the surf was a gentle rolling 2-4 foot swell.
One of the best days in a long time.
