Little Greenback? A misheard lyric makes it onto the label?
So I heard "Stuck in the Middle with You" this morning and it's impossible for me to hear that song and not think about somebody's ear getting amputated. But it got me thinking about Tarantino and his use of music in his films. So on to my second favorite song from Reservoir Dogs, Little Green Bag. It's an incredibly catchy little song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0L1hD5OlPtw

Wiki says...

The song features a jazzy bass intro, with a tambourine played on the off beats. The bass line is played twice followed by a drum groove with a bounce feel. The vocals start and are sung in a mellow, cool way, then they build. By the chorus the song starts to resemble romantic Spanish music.

"Little Green Bag" is a 1969 song written by Dutch musicians, Jan Visser and George Baker and recorded by the George Baker Selection at the band's own cost. The 7" single debut of the George Baker Selection was released by the label Negram, which misprinted the actual title of the song, which is "Little Green Back (greenback meaning money)and "greenback" is the lyric actually sung. This has caused the song to be misnamed ever since.

The song reached the number 9 position in the Dutch Top 40, and the number 3 position in Belgium. In the summer of 1970, it reached the number 16 position on the Cash Box magazine chart and 21 in the Billboard Top 100 in the U.S.. In 1992, when the song was used in the film Reservoir Dogs, it became an international cult classic.

I'd always thought it was about a bag of dope (green bag) but knowing that it's about money, its inclusion in a movie about a heist makes a lot more sense. Kudos to Tarantino for an appropriate selection.
