If the govt tries to "take over the internet" (in the US)

is it possible to get internet service from Canada, Mexico or somewhere else and just bypass whatever restrictions they might put on it?? I am a complete dunce about this stuff, but it seems to me that there should be a way to bypass it.. Maybe satellite?? Enlighten me :)

1. That's never gonna happen. It would be impossible.

You'd need to hack into literally trillions of lines of code to do that. There will ALWAYS be a way to get around it. In countries like China, Saudi Arabia, etc. that restrict internet access, there's ways to get around the filtering.

And why would the government want to do that anyway??? They know perfectly well what would happen to them if they try to do that. (Think liberals uniting with hardcore freepers in a war against the government)

2. The point is big business will try and GOP will try to help

When money could be made, big business will try to take it over.Look how they have moved into the service. How do you think we got lights in small back woods towns in this country? It was a FDR thing and then who took over?Drugs? Think who pays for a lot of those. I may be to old to worry about it but for most people I think it should be in your minds.It just maybe that govt. should run some things and the people should control and they should not be for profits, such as prisons etc.

Even years ago they couldn't. I suppose they could shut down all international communication outlets. (Yeah right) But this is a global community and there is global access. Every year the means of access expand.

I lived in a muslim country that regulated the Internet like religio-fascists. Oh wait, not "like" at all! They were religio-fascists! Still, I was able to download all the gay porn I wanted. Just a matter of knowing more than "they" did.

It's way out of their hands now. They can't really do anything without basically doing everything. All those twelve year girls on the Hello Kitty newsgroup.... uh, have you ever dealt with a really pissed off twelve year old girl? My advice is RUN as fast as you can! The misadministration doesn't have the first clue about civil war until they've mixed it up with a pissed of twelve year old girl.

No, seriously. They have limited options except prosecution. I suppose they could forcibly shut down the nodes in the US, but all you need is a long distance telephone line...

So sure you can bypass the restrictions. You can get access through Canada, Mexico, or Hong Kong, or wherever. You just have to pay the long distance fees. And that's what fucks all the fascist governments up - they can't really stop you, only make it difficult or expensive or raid your computer and put you in jail. But that's about it.

way out in middle of lake!....sheese i have 5 emails...under 5 names etc! i use 'hotwords' like bush, terror, bombs smuggling pot etc as often as possible...send email to radio newspaperstv etc..complain to gov all/time...just to help blow up number of droplets in the sea the fascists waste their vast energy on to try to keep track of.....lol
