Men Choose Strip Club Over Night Shift - Sacked

TWO men sacked for taking time off to go to a strip show have been told they might still have their jobs if they had been honest.

The Queensland Industrial Relations Commission was told John Dickenson and Brett Young left the Pinepanels Particle Board timber plant in Gympie, north of Brisbane, to go to the strip show at the local Gympie AFL club.

The incident happened while the two were rostered to work night shift but they were seen at the strip show in their work uniforms on August 2, 2003, the commission heard.

The men had applied to the commission for reinstatement after being sacked for being absent from their jobs without permission for between one and two hours.
