My Bush bumper poster- Do you guys get it?
Edited on Tue Mar-30-04 02:33 PM by BEFOREATHOUGHT
I can’t show you the actual logistics of my bumper poster but I will try.

Left side- BUSH
Middle- WAR IS PEACE – IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH- FREEDOM IS SLAVERY
Right side- 2004

I have gotten unclear reactions ranging from a woman in passing explaining to her boyfriend about 1984, a guy asking me are you for or against Bush, a thumbs up, and a honk. What do you guys think? Are Americans generally aware of 1984? Is it a shot in the dark? Most of my friends have no clue about 1984.

2. If most Americans knew about 1984,
Bush wouldn't have a 50% approval rating, now would he?

3. Most Americans don't know their ass from their elbow
It's hard to have faith in a people who even remotely consider re-electing Bush.

5. I guess it would be impossible
to design a bumpersticker that the extremely ignorant would understand.

Wait, I'll call the RNC for some advice.

6. I have a Bush Orwell '04 bumper sticker
But I'm not putting it on my car because Americans are such dumbshits they'll just think Bush has decided to dump Cheney as his running mate. And they'll think I'm pro Bush.

11. I doubt that more than 5% of the population has read 1984
Some might vaguely know what it means, but most would not.

I don't understand the Bush/Orwell sticker. Shouldn't it be Bush/Big Brother? 1984 is a cautionary tale, not a supportive one. It's just that I like so many of Orwell's books, I don't want people to think that he'd have agreed with Bush!

12. Is that a real sticker?
Bush/Orwell? How unfair.

You're right, of course.

13. I love it
Right after the 200 election theft fiasco I bought 1984 and reread it. At first I thought there was no way chimpy could be that bad but, as time marched on I saw just how much closer to 1984 the chimpster and his cronies were bringing us towards it. It took me awhile even to believe in LIHOP but thanks to lurking here at DU I am now convinced the twerp not only knew but, had some part in it.
