In college however, we used to get high and go to this place called Steak and Egg in Tenleytown that was open all night. This was in the late 90s. For $6 you could get:

*3 eggs any style
*Your choice of Bacon, Sausage, Scrapple or Ham.
*4 slices of dry toast, wheat or Wonder. (Butter extra, I shit you not.)
*Taters
*8oz steak. (I once made the mistake of asking what cut. "It's da steak cut, from the cow. Fucking Moron.")

*Alternately, you could get steak taters & pancakes. (No eggs, No bacon. Syrup extra. Butter...still extra.)

It was the sort of place where the grill never gets cleaned, your food is cooked under a steam iron which has been re-purposed, they have 5 stools and the short-order cook would chase you out with a knife if you thought you were going to sit even 10 seconds past what it took to clear your plate. It was Heaven.
