Why do dogs eat gross stuff?
Cat poop aside, the other day I had an allergy attack. I had a tissue near me and Bailey snatched it and wolfed it down.

Come on. Nasty!

3. their ability to eat our trash is one of the ways they became domesticated
I am sure of it. Here is this animal hovering around learning to be obsequious to us, maybe helping with the hunt, alerting us to danger and picking through-surviving on scraps and trash. Win-win for humans and dogs.

12. My uncle used to have a couple of dogs that were always bringing down deer
and bringing home parts. I just couldn't believe it,two yellow labs killing deer. They were such good dogs too!

16. The way my dog gets parts is from dumbasses disposing of carcasses
around my house. I live in a rural place where either poachers or irresponsible hunters think if they toss it in the woods it won't matter.

:grr:

6. I really wish I knew.
And they have supplements you can put in their food to discourage stool eating, but it makes the food unpalatable (apparently). At least my pup laid off the food while we were using it. Stop them from eating it by binding them up, I guess.

When we're out, I have to pull her away from dead worms, bird crap, and tree droppings.

7. Why do dogs eat stools?
snip "Why do dogs eat stools?

While most cases of coprophagia appear to be purely behavioral, there are indeed numerous medical problems that can cause or contribute to coprophagia. These problems must first be ruled out before a purely behavioral diagnosis can be made." snip

8. Because you haven't been offering enough snacks
I'm sure if you offered paté on toast, you wouldn't have problems with the dog eating tissues.

14. We used to eat gross stuff
100 years ago, none of us would eat what most people ate back then.

Granted, its not as bad as what my Beagle eats, but my dog eats shit other dogs shit.

We do not take her to GG Park when in the city for that very reason (please don't make me explain - its the grossest)

Anywhoo....just be glad its none of that
