I'm getting drunk already
I hardly ever post in the Lounge: But I'm well known in General Discussion. I'm hanging out here tonight because I'm drinking because of anticipated election returns. I don't feel like having fun. I'm watching CNN. I would be crying in my beer, except I'm drinking bourbon. Do people here care about politics? If you do, tell me how you're responding to the anticipated dismal returns.

1. Laughing my ass off at the stupid brainwashed and braindead Americans
who are destroying the country they profess to love and are too stupid to even realize it. They'll go to their graves convinced it was whoever Fox "news" tells 'em it is who done it to 'em.

4. Got that shit right

A really good friend of mine has gone off his head recently. He lost his job and subsequently lost his mind. I see quite a bit of stress in him lately. But, guess who he voted for stating that they will save his world?

I don't get it! How fast some people forgot about Cheetah and his band of freaks slinging poo at our Constitution.

What's odd is we play in a band together. I have been fairly slick sliding in a few cover tunes that are politically motivated. I was hoping to shake him out of it without getting in some strange debate about this crazy shit. No go....

10. Fellow musician here
have tried to avoid playing with repubs whenever possible and am probably about to be even more hard core about that now. Not a judgment on your doing so, by the way. And cool of you to be "sneaking" in political stuff when you can. I have a high profile/good money (on a local level anyway)gig coming up in December that includes one repub in a ten piece band; guess I can deal with that ratio (and it's an annual reunion show of a popular local group). Shame; she's a sweet, kind lady, and a damn good singer, but many years ago, Jesus personally instructed her to start voting repub.
But she, like the rest of the brainwashed, will never, I'm completely convinced, ever figure out how they helped dig their own grave. So for me, it's either cry in mourning for an America that is now basically a rotted corpse of its former self, or as I'm forcing myself to do; laugh at all the millions of fools that as I said, are gleefully cutting their own throats and are too stupid to know it.

12. there's nothing funny about it
we could have, and should have, done SO much better than this - it's telling how fucked things in the Obama administration when people think this crowd is the answer to their problems

15. You're right of course

see the last sentence of my reply to alphook.....Also, sent this as a PM to a facebook friend a few minutes ago in response to his public post there about the ignorant racists taking over, and you'll see how deadly serious I understand that this situation is...it also starts out with the "laughing about it" thing, but as you'll see, very quickly switches gears.

John...We're screwed, and I'm cynical, perverse and jaded enough that there's a part of me that's laughing my ass off as I watch America in the process of committing suicide, and not even fucking knowing it.
Sending this privately because I think the most violent elements of the right are about to feel more emboldened than ever and I don't want to go too far publicly in saying how far gone I think America really is now. Heading downtown momentarily to meet < an old roommate> at the Hotel Andaluz for a Martin Heinrich (to Skittles: Heinrich is, hopefully, still our congressman) thing . Looking forward to continuing this conversation with you in person sometime soon, hopefully, John....
Never thought I'd let the right intimidate me from speaking my mind publicly, but they're crazy, and they're armed and they have to be feeling emboldened. My 92 year old father even says this really reminds him of the brownshirts and the rise of Mussolini and Hitler. And of course he remembers it as it happened......So I can say I'm laughing on one level, but as a Jew who had countless family members before I was born (how many I'll never know) rounded up and slaughtered by fascists, I also take all this dead fucking seriously. Talk to ya soon, RL

3. Huh? Do we "people here care about politics" ?
Well, DUH!!!

Welcome to the lounge. It's crazy in here. Not as crazy as it is out there, though. Rand fucking Paul won, and Alan Grayson lost. And I'm going to bed.

It's not the bourbon. It's his words that make me want to vomit

8. Michael Collins triple distilled Irish whiskey
GD is the reason we're here.

I just spent 13 hours on my feet in my precinct. Average turnout for my 70% Dem precinct. I think we'll hit close to 80% Dem this time.

Dismal expected. Hoping for some bright spots. I hope all winning pubes are Teabaggers so they drown the party in 2012. Two years of heavy drinking followed by Epiphany and golden rainbows.
