Question about Wi-Fi
I go through a router, my Internet is wired, my neighbr uses wireless.

Can Wi-Fi go through a wireless part of a router?

1. I'm not exactly sure what you're asking.
If your router is wired only, it's not going to broadcast anything wireless. If you've got a wireless router and are concerned about it picking up signals from your neighbor, that shouldn't be an issue.

3. I'm thinking of getting one of those electronic books...
And the router my neighbor uses for his XBox 360 has 4 wired plugs and wireless.

I use the wire.

4. So once again, what are you asking?
Do you want to know if your eBook will be compatible with your router? If so, that depends on whether your router supports wireless or not.

7. If you mean the Amazon Kindle, it uses a 3G wireless network, not wifi.
Not sure about the Nook from B&N, but the Kindle uses something more akin to "cellular" than 802.11a/b/g/n wifi. You need no router or access point to use the Kindle's network.

8. not all of them have 3G
I have the wi-fi version. fifty bucks cheaper, and wifi is everywhere, so no biggie. even the 3G ones have wifi ability for faster usage.

6. You can use the wire from a router
for one (or more) machine(s) and also use the Wi-fi part of the router for anything else that may have Wi-Fi. But the router must have wireless capability.

Does that answer your question?

9. Check your Router/Modem first...
Edited on Wed Nov-03-10 04:26 PM by PJPhreak
I am using a Kyocera kr1 router using a Novatell Merlin S-720 aircard/modem. My router is hard wired to both of my computers thru a Cat 5 cable because both the Aircard (3G) and the Router use the same Wavelength (1900 Mz) Since The incoming 3G signal and the Router Broadcast Signal are the same they tend to cancel each other out...in other words my Upload/Download Internet speeds are MUCH faster with MUCH fewer connection drops if this thing is hardwired as opposed to using the Router set on Wi-Fi.

Hope this helps

P.J.
