I feel better
I realized recently that a client I did some freelance work for about a year and a half ago never paid me. They owed me only about $200, but ignored several requests for payment. Eventually, I just stopped asking and forgot about it.

But when I was going through some old e-mails, I remembered having been stiffed by those clowns and it bothered me. I spent a couple days telling myself that it didn't matter. But the thing gnawed at me -- not just because of the $200, even though I could use the money. Just the idea of having been stiffed bugged the heck out of me.

So, today, I contacted them. It turns out the person who handled/ignored the original invoice is gone. The person I dealt with today remembered be and was apologetic and embarrassed. He copied me on an internal e-mail in which he directed somebody to write a check ASAP.

It looks like I'll get $200 -- and a bit more faith in humanity -- by mail next week.
