This month, I've been on DU nine years

I lurked for several months before joining, and I can't remember the exact date I joined, but I do remember it was November. I'm not the most prolific poster, and I might, or might not, hit 2000 posts sometime in the next few months, but DU is DEFINITELY one of the things that has kept me sane all this time. I've met some great people, learned more than I ever could have by myself, gotten support when my husband ran for office in 02, and I've seen so many things that made me laugh, made me think, and made me better informed. I've seen perspectives I never would have seen otherwise, and I've seen some of the most impressive debaters I could ever imagine. There have been a few times when the general tone made me sad, but there always seem to be at least a few who "get it," even to this day. Finding DU most definitely made my life better, and I'm hoping it is still here when my daughters grow up and need a place to go for sanity.

5. DU is quite a place

Some times I love it, and sometimes I hate it. It's definitely quite a ride.

Been here 7 years now and as far as I know I'm about as well known as the words to La Bamba and as popular as shingles. But that's okay. Story of my life. There are definitely some great people here amongst the others, and despite not really knowing anyone well, I'm glad to have encountered them.
