Today's College Football Tailgate Thread
We have five games between ranked teams today, including two between teams in the top 10:

#21 Baylor at #17 Oklahoma State
#3 TCU at #5 Utah
#6 Alabama at #10 LSU
#18 Arkansas at #19 South Carolina
#15 Arizona at #13 Stanford

The Sooners are playing Texas A&M today—always a tough place to play, but Oklahoma has managed to win the last few times they’ve played there :woohoo:

So who does your team play today? What games are you looking forward to?

Oops, sorry I used Auburn and barn burner in the same post.

6. there seem to be a lot of SEC teams playing patsies today
Edited on Sat Nov-06-10 12:29 PM by fishwax
Georgia hosting Idaho State
Auburn hosting Chattanooga
Kentucky hosting Charleston State
Mississippi hosting Louisiana-Lafayette
Tennessee hosting Memphis

If it weren't for the LSU-Alabama and Arkansas-South Carolina matchups, this would be a total waste of an SEC weekend.

9. I wonder if the SEC scheduling causes that
I recall Florida & Alabama playing a FBS opponent late in the season as opposed to early in the season as teams from other leagues do.

It looks like the only match-ups are SEC West ones.

18. must be -- I know it seemed to me like the SEC conference schedule started pretty early this year
They had a couple of conference games in the second week of the season and several in the third -- but I talked to a friend from Georgia and he said that they usually do it that way.

2. OU vs. Texas A&M
what a tough game....:eyes:

I do admit though, I got an A&M hat though, I think OU lost to them...in fall of 02 or so. The downside to my A&M hat is that it reads "aTm", everyone comes up to me pushing on my belly, and expecting me to spit up money. :D

7. lol
Funny Image :D

I remember that 2002 game--the Aggies had a freshman QB, Reggie McNeal, who was a running threat, but could also pull up and throw the deep ball--burned OU's secondary on several long TDs that game. I think he got hurt the next year, and he was still pretty decent after that, but never quite became the star he looked like that day ...

close game, also the same year, I think OU dropped against Oklahoma State, at Stilwater(sp). OU made it to the Rose Bowl though against Washington State and beat the Cougs by a few touchdowns(if memory serves).

17. correct on all counts
The loss to OSU was the second year in a row they beat us, too. But OU hasn't lost to either team since. It might be tough to win up in Stillwater this year, though--Pokes are looking pretty good.

Illini have surprised me by actually having a pretty good year--but this game has been a bit crazy. Both teams scored 10 points in the last 2:25 of the first half.

And in the time I took to post this, Michigan puts another 7 on the board ...

16. what's the word on who's next in line for Hawkins
The OU message boards have been saying Mike Leach's name is being mentioned and that OU's coordinators (Venables and Kevin Wilson) may be candidates too, but I don't know how reliable that information is ...

I know it hasn't been the best of seasons for the Buffaloes, but they can definitely get the win against Kansas, I think.

He's make a better AD now, not a head coach. I would hate to see him come back and tarnish his history with the team. I have no idea who's going to replace Hawkins, but I'm 100% convinced that he's gone at the end of the season.

72. It's the worst year since Mack Brown became head coach.
Honestly, I don't think Texas will be bowl eligible this year. Garrett Gilbert can't throw. He's very sloppy. I think Texas is going to have to survive the season and wait for Case McCoy next year.

79. Just put together an impressive drive to get the lead back
But the XP was blocked and USC returned it all the way for a two-point conversion. So now it's 33-31.

81. I wish I could see the game
It sounds crazy as hell. Plus the radio announcers are not very helpful. They rarely mention the score. Several times they said "USC is ahead". OK, great. But what's the score? Thanks for the score update BTW-I was trying to figure it out and factor in the block XP.

if ASU loses another close game. That is what they have done ALL the time the last 2 years.

87. they've had several really close games this year alone, right?
I know they played Oregon as tough as anyone -- and I remember the Wisconsin game being a heartbreaker too.

But I think they'll pull this game out -- how 'bout that hurdler? :wow:

85. Okay, I'm probably not gonna get an answer since it's an Iowa State question....
Edited on Sun Nov-07-10 01:44 AM by vikegirl
But after watching many national college games this weekend, a lot of announcers have said that Paul Rhoads should be Big 12 coach of the year, especially after the "gutsy" failed 2-point (and potential game winner) conversion.

As an ISU fan, I would like to agree, but REALLY? A lot of improvement, but REALLY?

Edit: grammar, us anal Iowa-raised folk.

92. I don't know abotu coach of the year, but if that pass connects ISU has the inside track
for the Big 12 north title. What a (pleasant) shock that would have been.
