4. Thanks for the update. Hope you can find someone more suitable.
Why do you have to change Oscar's name?

6. Well, they already had a book
about an animal named Oscar, for one.
Of course that part is no longer a problem.
But I just wanted a more unusual name. In the original
thread, when somebody asked what his name was, I just
wrote the first thing that came to me, not knowing it was/is
a pretty common name for animals. Plus the other connotations,
esp. Oscar the Grouch, who I think I only knew vaguely of at
the time. So he had a couple other subsequent names that were
off, and the latest is Buzz, Buzzy, but there again, connotations.

I'd like a name that's common but nobody's heard of before, that's it!

8. How about Leon?
I'm no help; I call all my characters Joel. Even the women. Makes for some pretty confusing dialogue, let me tell you.

9. Ha! That's it. I could name him Lemuel after his, um, caretaker.
I like Leon. I've considered so many names it's all a cloud.
Cloud of names. Even "Cloud" I considered.

14. I know what you mean.
When I reread something I've written, all the names start with J, and all the female names end in a y sound. Chrissie, Becky, Heidi (and I used that one before meeting our dear Heidi here, btw). I have to go back and change names. Since my name is Joby, the J thing is obvious. Someone once told me that the Y is a diminutive ending, implying cuteness and affection, like a term of endearment, so that I'm really showing an affection to all my female characters. It might be true, since the female bad guy characters have more formal names.

Not that I'm a professional writer, or that I've even written anything in years. :(

19. He says, "Don't follow me, don't lead me, just be my friend
and leave me the hell alone."

Oh, on the publishing fiasco? He says:

"Get me out there, boy. This old world needs me bad."
