Anybody a Night Gallery fan?
I got the 1st season boxed set for my birthday and am hoping to carve some time tomorrow to watch it. I'm really hoping it lives up to my memories, it was seriously creepy and had a macabre humor that I ate up as a kid, and I believe gave me my lifelong interest in the horror genre and people's experiences of the unexplained. Rod Serling was seriously cool, too.

1. Dear God Yes
I absolutely love Night Gallery and it was worth everything I put my poor parents through back in the '70s, begging and whining to stay up and watch it.

Lucky you, getting the boxed set! The highlight of Season One for me is "The Doll". I feel I can confidently say there has never been a scarier doll in the history of film and television. Scared the crap out of me as a kid, and just like you, probably had a lot to do with why I'm such a horror fan today.

I've heard Rod Serling wasn't happy with Night Gallery and I've always wondered why. Sure, there were a few clunkers, but that was also true of Twilight Zone. Maybe I love it because it's something cherished from my childhood, but I really think the better NG episodes still hold up. Have fun watching!

4. I must have seen the few clunkers, then.
I used to love "Night Gallery" when I was a kid. I thought it was spooky.

Then I saw a couple of episodes as an adult, and was disappointed. With the exception of "The Doll", the shows just weren't scary, or even twisted and a little ominous, the way "The Twilight Zone" could be.

I'll have to take a look at a few more, I guess, to see if the non-clunkers really had some game...

6. Actually, come to think of it, what I watched was Night Stalker
with Darren McGavin. I was not a big fan of Nioht Gallery.

5. I was a big fan back in my childhood. My dad was an aspiring writer and belong to a
guild that had other established writers as mentors, his was Rod Serling. He has several letters written to him by Mr. Serling.

Edited to add:
A local TV station has been running old Night Gallery
and Alfred Hitchcock programs late a night. A few of
them are better the second time around. Others? --->
