An Identity Theft Prevention Tip (for cat staff)
I don't have a high-tech shredder. But I have a LOW-tech shredder.

This is what I do. Hoard up sensitive-but-still-junk papers (pay stubs, bills, bank receipts) until a day when you have a lot of time on your hands and it's near the end of the month and you're running low on cat litter.

Put a good movie on and commit to spending a half hour ripping all those papers up real small. Put them in a bucket or bag. Add them to the cat litter. It'll stretch the litter out, if your cat is like mine and enjoys rustling papers around. And the added benefit is that if you weren't so great at hand shedding, your sensitive info will still be so covered in cat effluvia by the time you take the whole mess out to the dumpster that most identity thieves (who consider themselves "above" common trash pickers) won't even try.

1. A Lot of Time on My Hands
Um . . . I don't think I'll ever have so much time on my hands that I'll grind up cancelled checks and put it in the cat litter.

2. I think it's a good idea. What I do...
since I don't have a cat is tear up as much as I can and then clean out the refrigerator. I don't usually have a lot old leftovers but I'll use them if I do. I also pour old coffee or water on the mess so it'll stick well.

But shredding is much easier!

3. Trouble is, my cat prefers plastic to paper
If all my sensitive papers were plastic, I'd have my Max chew them to shreds until they no longer are noticeable.
