It begins. Just saw my first Christmas commercial of the season.
I was beset by very odd dreams tonight and gave up on sleep around 4am. Flipped on the TV, and there it was: a K-Mart commercial featuring this talking lightbulb.

The word "Christmas" was never mentioned.

But the lightbulb was wearing a Santa hat.

To me, that counts.

Ugh.

3. That one is annoying the shit out of me already
I hardly ever see commercials, as we TiVo everything, and yet somehow I've seen that commercial a dozen times in the past few days. It's not the quality of the ad so much as the intensity of the bombardment. x(

2. KMart heavily advertises their layaway program
so they have to start early. I did my Christmas one year that way back in the eighties and it worked out great.

4. Christmas tunes in Sears this past Monday
I felt like apologizing to the employees for having to be subjected to "Jingle Bell Rock" already. Ugh.

5. The Wally World I work at has been selling Christmas stuff since several days before Halloween.
It seems they try to start Christmas earlier and earlier... usually by the time Christmas actually gets here, I'm sick of it and ready for it to be over.

7. K-Mart has been running commercials for their lay-away
service for Christmas here in Maryland for a few weeks now. It opens with what is clearly a Christmas party - tree, presents, etc. and two rug rats tearing into their gifts. Wife turns to husband and says that they'll remember this Christmas, to which he replies and so will I when I get the bills. Oh no she says, no bills, I put everything on K-Mart lay-away and it's all paid off. Husband puts on a Santa hat and rejoices.
