I've been to ireland, and I didn't have a single bad meal there. Only problem was they gave you sooooooo much food. By the end I was yearning for just a light bowl of serial for breakfast.

Yummm, I don't care for mushy peas, but steak and kidney pie, MMM,
mixed grille, red lead (stewed tomatoes, onions, bread crumbs, Mozarella cheese). I don't care for kippers or straight kidneys but my grandmother made all these and more. Don't forget "the roast Beef of Old England. I'm going now, I need to eat.

for this! Room-temperature beer? Don't forget, the British have a different idea of room temperature than Americans do. Anyway, 'room-temperature' means the temperature of the beer cellar the brew is drawn up from. I had wonderful, tasty, cold (but not numbingly icy) beer while I was in the UK. And fried bread! YUM! :9

21. Sorry but the only decent food I ever had in GB was at the Ritz in London

and it was prepared by a Frenchman. The stuff they call food is over salted, overcooked and uses nothing in the way of subtleness, not to mention vegetables or herbs. My eating experiences there were definitely not haute cuisine, not even midi cuisine. I did love the museums and the taxi drivers.

23. The "full English breakfast" is a glorious thing, too,

and you can get a most excellent grilled lamb chop or two in the right places.

I must also put in a word for blackberry and apple pie, with clotted cream, which I had at a pub in rural Devon. Since clotted cream is a specialty of Devon, that's the place to have it, in my view.

every once in a while, my english dad will randomly cook up a gigantic english breakfast. Sausage, bacon, ham, poached eggs, fried tomatoes (bits o garlic on it), fried bread, and more. Some of the happiest moments of my life have been eating that on a saturday morning. My saturday morning starts around noon of course. :boring:
