A thought on beer and travel money.
Edited on Sat Nov-13-10 01:23 AM by RandomThoughts
There is a story, that explains things like the beer and travel money stuff. Although I learned it from better people to me, it is how I try and think on things.

Lets say someone takes your beer and travel money, then puts it on a table and the person is between you and the table.

The beer and travel money is yours, so you walk to pick them up, and the guy hits you in the face.

So you get up, and walk back to the table to pick up what is yours, he says you should be mean to him, you don't, you just walk to the table, and he hits you in the face again.

So you get back up, not mad at the person, not even giving any respect to the person, what is on the table is already yours, he has no right to stop you, so you walk to the table and he hits you again, and says you should lie or be violent to him to take the beer and travel money back.

The person is showing power not right, but why is he doing it? To try and change your action and goal from simply picking up what is already yours, to hurting someone for no reason. However the truth is that there is no reason to hate the person, since the beer and travel money is already yours anyways, and he is irrelevant to that.

So you shrug and go and pick up your beer and travel money again, does it matter that he will hit you again, nope, do you hurt him, nope, that would in some way respect his methods and decisions on how he takes things, and how he wants the world to act.

That is Burt Gordon, "you got to be hard eddie" They want you to be violent and mean, or deceptive and any other way, then when they move you down that path, they will give you some of what is already yours, and then get you to be even worse to get a little more, it is training. And since the beer and travel money is already yours, why would you let someone train you to be like them to get what is already yours?

That explains many things, and is why, even though the world shows that if you are mean and without caring you can accumulate many things, it is far better in my view to not let the world change you, and just go and pick up what is already yours. That is what the dark side does not see, people do not chose to hurt them because they don't know that they could easily destroy them, they choose not to because that is not what they want to be.

Side note, there are many people that find ways to find their beer and travel money without being mean, or doing worse things, which shows also that people that think power makes right, do not always prevail, nor do they get what they really want most of the time, for people to be like them.

The point is when people say you are wrong because it is obvious that all you have to do is fight the guy to get what is already yours, they don't understand that you don't do that, not because you don't know you can, but because that is not how you think the world should be. There literally are people that think people that don't fight for what is theirs already are in the wrong, what they don't understand is those people that don't fight understand that is part of a system that some perpetuate in society, but not a system that everyone chooses to be part of.

However that does not mean you sit on the ground and refuse to go and get your beer and travel money again, but you also don't go and try to get some other beer and travel money when you already have it, even if it is not where you are at.

I think that is part of this song also, although nothing good ever dies :)

Crash Test Dummies: Superman's Song

You can fight with passion and many good intents, without changing what you are, I think that is part of the concept of even loving your enemies, and ideas of truth and education, while not giving into what you disagree with, and part of their goal is to make you like them, so not giving in is also not changing what you choose to do, or what you want to be.

You fight by not backing down, and not letting them stop you from making them show what they believe in.

And just because a distribution system like our economic system moved money to a person, does not mean that money is always actually theirs, it only means they were willing to take it, not everyone does that.

1. Another Beer and travel money story.
Edited on Sun Nov-14-10 08:32 AM by RandomThoughts
A bit different but part of many things also.

If you walk over to the table where your beer and travel money is, that the person took, and the person does not stop you, but instead moves the beer and travel money further away, or to another table, in that case you do not go and get the beer and travel money again.

In that case the person is moving the beer and travel money to either control your direction, or to get you to do something like move to where the beer and travel money is while he keeps moving it.

Once the beer and travel money is yours, if they move it, then you sit on the table, and let them know they will be putting it back on the table, you don't go to its new location and pick it up, nor do you get mad, you simply wait till they bring it back, since it is not theirs, nor their right to move it.

It could be argued that the first time they move it you do not go and get it, so then that defends sitting doing nothing, however to make sure you understand their intent, giving them a second chance to show what they are doing is a good idea. So if they push you back, you keep walking to the table where your beer and travel money is, and if they move it, you sit on the table.

Then find something to do while there, sing a song, quote some tv show, tell stories. Anything that might be something to do while waiting for them to correct what they did wrong.

It is the difference between two worlds, one that says if you can take it it is yours, or says if you are smarter you can take it, or if you are stronger you can take it. That is in comparison to a world that thinks things should be more just and more fair. Those really are the two sides of existence in my veiw. The funny thing is if you think the strongest should take what they can, then in the long run of eternity everyone but one thing will have everything, that is also part of highlander doctrine. And if you are not the smartest or strongest, then you would have nothing. And I can pretty much guarantee no person is the strongest or smartest, and I think most people agree with that, so it does not seem to be a good choice on how to live, but does explain many philosophies of how things end up for some people.

But in the meantime, might as well just sit on the table and play some songs, or movie clips, or tell stories, it is something to do

And here is the real trick of it, it is not about the beer and travel money :) That really doesn't matter :)
