3. One night, Robert Louis Stevenson was having a bad nightmare.
It woke up his wife, who in turn, woke him up from his dream. He was actually upset that she awakened him and interrupted his nightmare.

"I was dreaming a fine, bogey tale!"

The "fine bogey tale" was The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde.

He wrote the story down in less than three days.

4. Probably a good thing she woke him up...
...or else he might not have remembered the dream, and would never have written the story. It's been shown that people usually remember dreams if they're woken up right in the middle of them, but far less so if they sleep through them and wake up normally the next morning. The reason we often remember the dreams we have near morning, is in part because they become longer and more complex as the night wears on, and also in part because we often wake up in the middle or right as they end, and don't go back to sleep afterward.
