Best way to remove the adhesive sticky crap from a cookie sheet...

Just bought a shiny new cookie sheet. It's got this sticky stuff that will not come off. I've heard WD40 or soaking it in water with a dryer sheet will get it off. I'd rather ask here before ruining the cookie sheet.

Any advice?

Ordered it online. I'd rather not send it back. It's a heavy gage cookie sheet.

5. Yip, Goo Gone. Don't know the square size of the area, & I don't have the patience

to let it soak very long, which probably defeats the purpose, but works early with a paper towel to "scrape" with, non-scratching thumbnail inside the paper towel.

6. You can also use a plastic putty knife - pretty damn safe and saves the fingernails.

I don't know about you, but my nails will only take so much of that shit.

I wonder if it would work on the labels of those glasses prefab Mexican mole comes in. That sticky is the very worst to try to get off.

12. Yes. Work it under the label, it may take longer. Peeling the surface of the label first helps

The oil in the mayonnaise creates a barrier that prevents the glue from re-adhering. Solvents just dissolve the glue and smear it around.

Hot glue adhesives are another story, a nut I haven't cracked yet.

Towel you don't want plus steam iron you don't care about (because you might potentially ruin it but probably won't.)

23. I use regular printer paper instead of the towel.

Works great and I like it because you can discard paper once it has sucked up the wax, and keep using new sheets until you're done.

15. Is this a super-heavy cookie sheet? I had two, brand new,

really nice, and my son baked chicken on them in the oven and ruined them. That was 8 years ago and I haven't found any heavy ones since. If yours is the super-duper heavy kind, would you mind sharing where you got it?

We have a different oven so most of our cookie sheets won't fit. I bought this one and if it works as well as I think it will, I'll get a couple more. It feels like it's better quality than our others.

I can never find the Goo Gone, so I use butter or margarine or cooking oil, rub it on the sticker and let it set a few minutes, then peel the sticker off. Sometimes I have to nudge it off a little at a time with a fingernail.

22. Remove any sticky crap from any surface with any oil.

Most remedies mentioned here are oils of various kinds.

Mayo, butter, motor oil etc. They do it!
