Anybody else who saw it as disappointed as I am?

I can't believe how badly written it is. No excuse for that. The "Band Of Brothers" series was very well-written. The dialogue in "The Pacific" is banal in the extreme, or else it's boilerplate tough Marine talk from a 1940's war epic. The exposition is clunky and eye-rollingly obvious.

The acting is mediocre, and I don't care about any of the characters, because I don't know who any of the characters are.

At least with "Band Of Brothers", the characters were all real-life personalities, with personal histories and everything.

Somebody tell me it gets better. There are eight episodes to go...

1. Oh boy, my dear Aristus...
I'm sorry........I LOVED it.

But then, maybe I'm just impressionable. I was riveted by the cinematography, and the dialogue, and I found the characters fascinating.

I really loved it, and I'm sorry you aren't.

I'm glad you didn't buy it...

:(

2. I just rewatched all of Band of Brothers this weekend...
I enjoyed both of them, didn't really notice the dialogue so much, because I was interested in the geographical/historical perspective when I was watching it. By the end I really did care about Leckie so much so that I watched him all through Rubicon.

It won't waste your time, anyway, imho.

But maybe if I rewatch The Pacific I'll notice the script more. Actually now I'm thinking about it, I did notice it somewhat especially in one of the first episodes, maybe that's what you're talking about. But stick with it. Not as good as B of B, but still worth watching.
