Anyone here ever tried heroin recreationally?
No, I'm not thinking about trying it. But, I hear more people than you think do that.

3. Not in a million years
I knew a guy who tried it for recreational purposes at a frat party...he's been a heroin addict ever since!

4. I tried virtually everything I came across...
.
.
.
.
.
...but, as a medic, i saw the horrendous things that needles could
do to people (and this was pre-AIDS) -- ulcers, Hepatitis C, OD's,
infections -- and that's one thing I never messed with (nor had a
hankerin' to).
.
However, I did snort heroin three times... all three times, I just
got nasty nauseous as hell (with the exception of PART of one
trial... when I lay perfectly motionless on a couch, I UNDERSTOOD
why heroin addicts are addicted -- but when I moved, the nausea
returned).
.
.
I had friends who had picked up serious needle habits... and when
I told them it just made me ill, they told me that it's something you
get over after 4 or 5 times.
.
.
They wanted those addictions BAD!!!
.
.
.
Despite my trials (and some things I liked a lot and OFTEN), I just
don't seem to have an addictive personality (with the exception of
tobacco -- which I kicked 12-13 years ago).
.
.
.
I don't recommend trying it to anybody. The addiction rate is very,
very high. The "life" you lead is sad... VERY sad.
.
.
.

6. Yes.
I snorted it off and on for a little while. Never got hooked, but wow, I was lucky because it is SO. FUCKING. NICE.

I started using it in the winter of '90 because I had just been dumped. Hard. By the person I thought was my soulmate. It was either heroin or suicide, or so I thought at the time. You break a leg or get your wisdom teeth out, you get prescribed painkillers. You experience the worst emotional pain you've ever had---well, you have no recourse but the dealer on 1st and 10th.

So no, it wasn't recreational per se. I just did it to get me through the rest of my internship where I kept having to deal with him; when the quarter was over and I went back to my school, there was no more smack available and he wasn't there, so I never did it again.

It is really REALLY nice, though. Fuck yeah.

11. "Heroin" and "recreationally" should never be in the same sentence.
I've been told it's the most seductive thing on earth, and since it has dreadful health and social consequences, I'd stay far, far away.

12. No, but once this musician who lived with me brought a small vial of it home
He had been out with a friend and they'd been snorting it. But this was a guy who would smoke, snort, or swallow any drug within arms length. (And he was an alcoholic.)

13. I walked in on some ladies shooting up
They didn't want me to tattle, so they shared. I wouldn't have tattled AND I didn't like it, only snorted, but seriously, I don't get the attraction.

15. I saw a guy fix one time. Grossed me out big time. (Graphic warning)
He was the housemate of a guy I'd lived with at one time. Dunno all his history, but I do know he'd been a guest at a correctional facility for a couple of years prior to landing in that group house. Anyhow, he was shooting that stuff into his arm and it was nasty to watch. What grossed me out the most was he pulled his blood up into the syringe and then was "jacking" blood and heroin in and out of that needle. I hate needles anyhow, but that was SO nasty to see that I never wanted to be around that shit--let alone do it.
