1. Absolutely. The collective unconscious knows.
There are periods in history when these themes become popular, and I'd be willing to bet that they coincide with social conditions at the time.

Vampires and zombies indeed. We are either the walking dead or the blood suckers (and most of us are the former)

5. Vampires - Because teenage girls like to masturbate.
Zombies - Because we are so alienated from our fellow human beings that seeing them as predatory "non-beings" isn't too far of a step. The zombie apocalypse would free us from our normal social confines and give us the chance to start a new life for ourselves.

6. Capitalism is both zombie and vampire.
The blood sucking walking dead. Most have only their labor and time to sell, our life is drunk away for the profits of others...an economic system though spiritually and ethically dead, lives on, devouring itself.
