Just listening to Steve McQueen (Two Wheels Good, as it was titled over here on release). Paddy McAloon is a genius. Totally uncool, but a genius.
On edit - to make the title more clear, I believe McAloon to be one of the few pop writers to be in the same league as the godlike Neil Finn.

1. Totally uncool
"Andromeda Heights" is the uncoolest album. But brilliant writing.

My wife hates his voice.

2. I always thought he sounded a lot like Neil Finn.
One of the few writers who could match Finn, also.

3. Wow...there is a name I haven't heard for a while!
I never really got into their other albums as much, but Two Wheels Good remains on of my favorte all time albums. Ah, college...

I think Bonny is still my favorite track...

Thanks for reminding me - I need to pick up Two Wheels Good on CD next time I'm shopping for discs.

I used to sing the lead for "Bonnie" in a cover band I was in, back in the day.

Edited to add:

No - very, very few people are as good as Neil Finn.

6. You missed my Prefab Sprout appreciate thread a few months back
I have been a big fan for years and years and years.

Though I disagree, I think he's completely cool. Uncool is when you are ashamed of liking something and feel you have to hide it from others, and no way am I ashamed I my affection for this band.

8. Fair enough. I always felt he never got the respect he deserved.
