Need the opinion of some of the younger duers

My wife went shopping with my oldest son at aeropostle. while there she found a pair of cargo pants in my size the struck her fancy. she bought them for me immediatly. I asked my youngest son (18yo) his opionion of his father wearing aeropostle. His answer, "dad don't embarass me. Get rid of them."

I am a 52 yo man.

Is my son's concern legit.

19. you should have seen my 80 year old father when he got a leather jacket

and some Van-type shoes on sale at Target or somewhere. He was the 80 year old hipster! He loves bargains and is kind of a clothes-horse, actually.

It was quite amusing. Better than the white shoes and belts he used to wear in the 70s!

I *LIVE* to embarass my daughter! In fact, I've found, now that she is approaching tweenhood (she'll be 10 in a couple weeks), it is my most powerful form of discipline. Just the threat of embaressment is enough to coerce her into good behavior. I don't get embarrassed, so I figure it'll be all out war once she's a full blown teenager! I can't wait!

6. I saw a fellow your age in cargo pants just yesterday.

He wore a loose, gray, crew-neck sweater with them and he looked great. Just go classic with your other apparel, you can be attractive to your wife and embarrass your son at the same time. It's a win win.

10. Here's how I used to embarrass my daughters

I have one of those winter hats (the furry ones with the earflaps). When I'm cooking, I put it on and then fix it so the flaps stick straight out to the sides. Looks like the flying nun (i.e. a total lunatic/idiot). I especially liked to do this when their friends were over. They'd get so embarrassed. But now they just think of me as their eccentric dad.

and I don't get why aeropostle would be embarrassing. I'm not sure what kind of clothes they make. I was never a brand guy, if the clothes look nice, I wear them.

16. I have a few thoughts

1) Cargo pants generally don't look good on men of any age in my opinion (sometimes they can look good on women)


2) Stereotypes about age appropriate clothing usually hold true. That being said there are exceptions. I know plenty of guys my age (early-mid 20's) who try to wear bow ties. I know one who pulls them off well.

3) If they're comfy and you like the extra pockets then wear them. The fact that they are aeropostale is irrelevant.
