Serendipity or paranormal?
I get these, um, things, I guess, where how I can say something about something, and then it happens.

Vague, I know. I'll give some instances that I can remember, though these are just the ones fresh in my mind.

I was reading a series of books by Michael Scott, and one of the characters in the book is John Dee, who was a real person in England in the 16th century. A friend and I were driving to a new place to go out and do some walking, and I was telling him about the books. I was telling him about the John Dee character, and saying he was the bad guy in the books, so we discussed it for about 5 minutes. Then, suddenly, on the left hand side of the street, we passed another street.....called John Dee St. Amazing!

Another incident came when Steve and I went to inquire about a cat that she was giving up, and on the way there, I was musing about what Shannon looked like. I told him she was likely Irish, and that I said that no, she wasn't going to have red hair, but black hair. He asked me how I got to that conclusion, and I just said somehow it was right. Sure enough, Shannon turned out to be a dark haired woman!

Even more recently, Steve and I went to the new Big Lots which just opened at the mall. I LOVE Big Lots, and Ocean State Job Lots, because there is usually some decent products at a discount price. The minute we walked through the door, there were three large displays of DVDs, priced $3, $5, and $10. Of course, being ravenous movie and TV fans, we started going through the DVDs to find favorites. Suddenly, out of nowhere, I said aloud that I would really like to get Kramer vs. Kramer for no real reason, other than I wanted to see it again. A few minutes later, I went to check another side of the group of DVDs, and there, staring me in the face, was Kramer vs. Kramer. Of course, I picked it up, but I'm sure my jaw was on the floor when I paid for it.

This has happened to me for years. Another incident was when a friend of ours was in the hospital, and we were all watching TV, and Jeopardy was on. So we were watching it, and then came the last commercial break, right before the Final Jeopardy question. For those who watch the show, Alex Trebek always teases the audience as to what area the final question will be, and that night, he said it would be about children's literature. As it went to commercial, I turned to my friends and announced the question would be about Peter Pan. They started ragging me, but sure enough, when the question was revealed, it was about Peter Pan!

Anyone else have these kinds of things happen to them? I've had some doozies through the years, but I have no way of controlling it. It just happens.

One night, thirty years ago, I had a dream where someone was chasing me. The dream started in this place where there were a bunch of us having a party. The setting was the American Embassy in Iran, where we had a hostage situation. And yes, that was going on in RL, so it wasn't really prophetic to think about the situation. In the dream, I managed to escape from the Embassy, and as I said, people chased after me. I finally went into this building that has revolving doors, and as one of the bad guys said, "She's gone into the Canadian Embassy, we'll never get her now." Sure enough, about two weeks later, we found out that some who escaped the siege HAD actually gotten asylum in the Canadian Embassy.

There have been way too many instances that it has happened to make it coincidental, but whether it's just my subconscious mind filling in observational blanks, I don't know. I just can't explain some of the times it has happened.

Tell me your serendipitous moments!

(forgve any typos you see--my keyboard doesn't always type "P", because the cap is off, and the "i" doesn't always like to work.

1. Honestly, those things happen so often that I've stopped paying attention
Seriously. I take them for granted. Usually make a mental note that goes something like this: "Huh."

There's a new study that you may find interesting if you haven't already seen it (hah):

3. Very interesting article.
I can't wait to see this study published. My question is, does this study suggest that what we know about causality is wrong?

4. Well, here's a thread from the other day
I also had posted that link there in reply to the OP.

I see a connection. Don't understand it, but then nobody else does either, yet.

I'm glad the universe and reality are not as boring as many think.

2. You're not alone
They happen to me all the time too. I believe they're all a part of listening to intuition and being in the flow. If linear time is a manmade construct, and everything is happening at the same moment, then it makes sense to me that we can "know" things that happen in the "future".

Enjoy it--not everyone has the know-how to tap into the Great Is! :hi:

5. I have it happen to me quite often...
The one incident that sticks out in my mind is, on the day Michael Jackson died, I was watching "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" when the category "Pop Music" came up. I thought to myself, That will be a question about Michael Jackson; and it was. I wish I could get a feeling for the Powerball or Mega Millions numbers.

7. This is synchronicity. It happens to me all the time but like you its nothing
I do. There have been several incidents that were almost frightening because it was if I couldn't escape synchronous zone I was in. One writer whose name escapes me at the moment referred to this phenomena as the 'angel in the library'. Jung also writes about numerous instances of synchroncity in therapy. There are lots of interesting books about this. Soome famous people who experienced these occurrences were Hitler and Churchill, each it seems had escaped perilous circumstances by fortuitous synchronicity.

8. Coincidence.

Think of all the conversations you've had about people that didn't involve walking past a coincidentally named street.

And how many times have you thought of a movie that didn't immediately come to hand?
