e-cigarette advice? Buying a kit as a gift.
I want to buy some kind of starter kit for my sister for her b-day. She knows I'm doing this.

The little bit of reading I've done has me worried about buying one that has a short battery life, or other problems. Would like to find something that looks pretty much like a cigarette, doesn't taste gross, and is made well enough that it won't break or be too inconvenient for her to actually use.

I frankly don't want to have to do a ton of research, but would love to hear specific brand and model recommendations people have used this. Also which one's to stay away from.

Thanks in advance!

1. Maybe even point me to a site with real reviews?
A google search for "electronic cigarette review" is kind of overwhelmed with links that look like advertising or fake reviews...

1. Buy a cigarette kit. I recommend the KR 808D-1 Starter Kits, they are as cheap as you can find out there and the average around $50 Plus they are simple to use when you are starting out. I believe that is between $25-$30. A link-https://strictlyejuice.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=63&zenid=uh788cb309g1soiaptbtimbaa3

2. You're going need spare parts for it. You can get a 5-pack for $6.45. https://strictlyejuice.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=64_86_88&zenid=uh788cb309g1soiaptbtimbaa3

3. You are also going need e-juice. You can use that site to order some or find another. I personally order most of mine from Gourmet Vapors. I like fruit favors and soda flavors. Others like Coffee and tobacco flavors. There is also choclate and all sorts of flavors and you can also make your own.

http://www.gourmetvapor.com/ I recommend for being flavors. Good quality IMO.

Also let whoever know don't throw away the cartridges. The part you inhale from. You refill those with more e-juice.

Also look up youtube videos for how-to on e-cigarettes such as refilling them.

4. Thanks for the info. I'm afraid if I get something cheap or hard to use
she won't use it. By cheap I mean badly made, not the price.

Was just looking at a review for Green Smokes and also Smoke Tips.

Can't tell which reviews are real and which are company front sites.

6. Wow. That was far more info than I ever wanted to read.
And I still don't know which to buy for her. I don't smoke, so it's hard to wade through all the posts. Again, it's hard to tell which reviews are company hype and which are real.

I bought Green Smokes based on reviews on www.quit-smoking-comparison.com

I cancelled the order (hopefully) based on reviews at www.e-cigarette-forum.com

Her Birthday has come and gone. I'm starting to think this was a bad idea.

7. I have tried three different ones
so, while not an expert I can compare the ones I have tried.

I liked BLU the least. Just nothing satisfying about it and too hard to get used to using.

I liked NJoy better, but it was still lacking.

I liked NPro DUO the best. It might be made by NJoy, just their new and improved version, I am not sure. I have had it for several months and havent even tried using my other two brands since then. It is the most like really smoking and when you inhale, you actually get a satisfying draw. It was a little more expensive, IIRC.

9. Thank you! That was exactly the info I was looking for.
personal experiences with specific brands.

Don't know why, but whenever I ask people who use these things for recommendations and what's no good, they instead send me to websites to read a book's worth of stuff I'm not particularly interested in. :P

10. My post was based on personal experiences
Edited on Sat Nov-20-10 05:15 PM by JonLP24
What I posted is what I use.

I've only used two brands. I like both, but the one at the website is cheaper. The first one I bought was at a Fry's Grocery Store. It came with generic flavor and it just simply said E-Cigarette on the box. I have no clue what the brand is other than that. Also came with 4 filters. I paid slightly over $50 for it.

11. Thanks. I didn't mean to insult anyone with my last post.

My well meaning friends have sent me reams of information, when all I really wanted to know was what brand they use and if they like it. Also what brands they've hated.

It would all be great information if it was for myself, but I'm buying it as a gift. I want to make an informed choice and buy something she'll use and not get frustrated with and just toss in the trash. I want to stick with something that's very easy to use and doesn't require a lot of cleaning and filling - my sister is a creature of convenience, I doubt she'd use something that took much work.

Thanks again for sharing your experience. It's helpful.

12. The filters I use
Edited on Sat Nov-20-10 07:00 PM by JonLP24
can hold up to 16 mg of nicotine juice. That equals to a little over half a pack, so it depends how often you smoke. She'll have to buy flavors again and again, and refill the filters. That isn't too difficult, easy if you know how to do it. The "stick" requires cleaning occasionally. I'm not aware of brands that hold a lot of nicotine juice. It is cheaper than buy tobacco, especially pack of cigarettes. I'm sure there is some out there. Using message boards is where I learned everything I learned about E-Cigarettes. Anyways once the filter is filled, you screw it back onto the "stick" and inhale.

13. I ended up buying green smokes
they seemed the easiest to use. I figure the cost is still way, way less than a pack of cigarettes.

I now know far more about this topic than I ever wanted to ;-)

14. I'm hooked on the Revolver Infiniti Ion.
Edited on Sat Nov-20-10 07:05 PM by Starbucks Anarchist
http://revolvercig.com/infiniti-ion-starter-kit-manual-batteries.html

I bought it a few weeks ago and have already cut my "analog" (real cigarette) usage by more than 50% with the goal to go completely analog-free soon. This thing is amazing, trust me. If you do get it for your sister, let me know and I will give you some tips about it you can share with her.

It's also saved me a ton of money. Cigarettes are $13 a pack in NYC, but the e-cigarette 5-pack of cartridges (roughly equal to two packs of cigarettes) only costs $5.

The only other e-cig I used was NJOY, which wasn't so good. Revolver is much better.

16. Much better in every way.
I'd definitely recommend it. The nicotine hit is far better than a regular cigarette, too.

18. The starter kit comes with five pre-filled cartridges.
You can also buy juice bottles separately and fill the blank cartridges, which they also sell.

In my experience, one pre-filled cartridge lasts me about a day, but that's with fairly heavy use.
