I was waiting in line at the drive through of a famous canadian fast food outlet.
I noticed one of the workers removing the full garbage bags from the recycling centre (garbage, glass, plastic, paper), replacing each garbage bag with empty ones. Then he proceeded to throw all the garbage bags into the same huge garbage bin. So I'm guessing that there will not be any recycling going on. Grrrrrrrr.

1. That's either Pizza Pizza or Tim Horton's
(and I've never been to Canada!)

But yeah, there are some pretty daft people out there. Too bad you couldn't have yelled at him "What part of "re-cycle" do you not understand?"

Fire off an email to their corporate HQ, leaving out the employee description (that is, if you don't want to see him fired) and just let them know of their loss of business from you until they walk the walk.

4. I wondered. I did what you suggested and emailed them. They even
gave out a corporate email address on their website .... which is very rare with corporations. Usually they just give you a regular address on their contact page.

5. Great!
Let us know if you get anything other than the standard auto-reply.

Was it Tim Horton's? In a way, I was exposed to them long before I met my past-wife, thanks to SCTV's Bob & Doug McKenzie :D

"Oh! There's like ten tables and three spots!"

7. Perhaps the bags are different colors
and the trash people know to separate them?

I've seen documentaries about trash collecting and was surprised to learn that sometimes the garbage is actually sorted for recyleables.

8. The bags were all the same colour. Perhaps there are different tags on them or something. I wrote
head office. I'll let them deal with it.

13. I had maple planked salmon last night for dinner. That is a very canadian meal. But you can't get
that at a drive through.

12. Update. I just drove by that same drive through and two out of the four
garbage cans were for regular garbage. And I saw the kid throw 3 garbage bags into the bin. So I could be wrong.
