1. My dear HipChick...
Have you thought about helping out at a community or church kitchen that day? It would give you purpose and good people to be around...

:hi:

9. Several times I have planned European vacations during the holidays just...
so I could avoid everyone on Thanksgiving or Christmas.

This year I am again volunteering at the church free Thanksgiving feast open to everyone, and said anyone expecting me to show up at their place is welcome to join me at the church.

12. I'd invite you over here if you were in town.
There's only going to be four of us here -- my husband and me and my daughter and her boyfriend -- and there will be plenty of food.

Except for the cats, of course. That being said, if I got an invite to dinner, I might not turn it down.

19. I know just how you feel. I will also be alone, and not by choice.
I am single. Never married and no kids. My parents are both dead, as are all the family still in this area. My sisters are in TX and CA and I am in PA. Just too few people in my family. I am sure that I could barge in on someone if I asked, and I know I could volunteer at a dinner at a church or shelter, so ... maybe it is my choice.

and it has nothing to do with need. It's been held at our civic center for many years and is very popular.

make it a special thanksgiving.
