Any Beautiful South Fans?

I really did not like the Housemartins, but the later incarnation of the lead singer's work, The Beautiful South is great. Wonderfully sappy music, unless you listen to the words, then its some of the ugliest and nastiest stuff you could ever enjoy. The female vocalists are a nice touch (I think there were at least two over the life of the band).

It is better in retrospect. At the time I thought the HM were wimps and despised the overplay on MTV 120 Mn. And, too happy for the nihilistic me that was then. I think the lush power pop with the creepy lyrics is brilliant in TBS, though. I need to spend more time with the old HM stuff.

do love the TBS stuff though Rotterdam, perfect10, woman in the wall, and you keep it all in are damned fine songs as is 36D.
