John Hawkes in Winter's Bone....Great job...
Man, will someone give this some love!?!

What a great actor. He can do it all - comedy, straight, horrific - he's fabulous in this movie.

His eyes blow your socks off when he utters one line in the flick (don't want to tell it - it'd be a spoiler).

From HBO's Deadwood and Eastbound and Down to this movie. It's pissing me off that he's not being mentioned for a potential Oscar.

1. I want to see that!
I keep hearing great things about this one.

The movie hasn't had a lot of buzz....give it time, and I'll bet he'll be mentioned.

I REALLY want to see it.

Thanks for the recommendation...

:hi:

2. The book is even better....though....
I don't know which to recommend first - reading the book or watching the movie - they both really compliment each other.

Also, the author Daniel Woodrell is a fabulous southern writer - though his books are hard to get a hold of (luckily, they are going to be re-issued in the near future).

3. I saw it last night & thought it was good!
It was what I like most about independent films: unpredictable, unlike the formula plots in major releases. I had read a review of it in the early summer, & the critic gave high marks to the girl in the lead role, a newcomer.

Was John Hawkes the guy who played "Teardrop"? He reminded me of a worn-looking Sam Shepard.

5. Agreed
....especially when he utters the line you mentioned. I just watched it Saturday and wish more people knew about it--Jennifer Lawrence was excellent, too.
