1. My current cat keeps strays away
He also tries to chase off the foxes, stalks the deer and gives squirrels nightmares. Oddly enough the only creature I know that he does not pick on are veterinarians, probably because he knows what they can do to him.

2. My little female is very rude to strays. She hisses and spits like a tasmanian
devil when she sees one out the window. I think it is the case of the low man on the totem pole being the nastiest because of lack of social status. Because with me she is a sweatheart.

3. My cats are indoor only, so they don't get the chance to recruit strays
Also, two of them are hostile towards strays that they spot outside the windows.
That doesn't stop me from feeding stray cats if they will let me pet them, though.
