Sandwich Monday In Las Vegas: The $777 Burger

http://www.npr.org/blogs/waitwait/2010/11/22/131512386/sandwich-monday-in-las-vegas-the-777-burger

The 777 Burger at the Paris Casino is called the 777 Burger because it is a burger that costs $777.00. It's cost-prohibitive-licious! When I asked if we could try one for Sandwich Monday, they sent me a list of Talking Points about the burger. This is the first sandwich we have ever tried that has Talking Points.

1. Our burgers tonight looked just like that, sans lobster.
But they weren't expensive.

Brie and lobster on a burger of any sort ? The flavours would cancel out each other. And the wine isn't all that great.

10. finally a post that made me laugh out loud.
I hope I get rich enough one day to say this line at a restaurant that charges $777 for a goddamn hamburger.

3. As the 1% grow more and more jaded, new thrills will have to be manufactured...
to meet their need of exclusivity.

It's only a matter of time before some corporation offers the rarest of albino Panda steaks grilled over a burning Gutenberg bible and seasoned with just a touch of Astanine.

15. Can't blame them for milking the rich idiots though.
Make a hamburger, and claim that it's for "rich people only!" It's really just a hamburger, but to the rich, it's an exclusive hamburger!

(Money making and lol's ensue by the restaurant)

5. Even if I had the money, I wouldn't spend it on a super-burger.
But I gotta wonder, what's it taste like?

7. This is why the top 2% need to keep their tax cuts..look at the beers
Hi,
What a disgusting combination. I found it quite perfect that at the bottom of the menu picture were the beers listed. Bud, Coors's Light. and Miller Lite. Yes, you are a fucking idiot who just spend 777$ on some disgusting combination of food to make up your burger, wash it down with some backswill of a beer, perfect.

Peace

8. My American Wagyu burgers cost a hell of a lot less, and were pretty damned tasty
No need for the lobster tail or the bottle of Dom.

I still want to create this at home...

does it have to be 100 year old balsamic vinegar and Dom Perignon?

12. Actually I think the Balsamic vinegar is actually one of the cheaper additions there.
Edited on Wed Nov-24-10 05:47 PM by Chan790
The Kobe beef is super pricey and the Dom is a waste of money.

Edit: the going rate is ~$100/bottle but the amount you'd use is minicule. Assuming they serve 100 of these a year (and I doubt they do) the bottle would last the full year.

About 270 bucks including labor by my reckoning.

16. I was thinking more like profit marging: $700. lol
Of course, the lacking-common-sense rich folks will rush to buy this one, only to find that it's a mediocre hamburger. Fail! :)

Edited on Wed Nov-24-10 05:57 PM by kimi
Disappointing.

But really, how did it taste? I'm assuming you did try it?

Edit to add: Oh, sorry, YOU didn't try it, that was in the article.
