Green Bean Casserole
Anyone have their favorite recipe for it? There are many variations. I bought all the ingredients for one recipe I saw online, but now I can't find the recipe. The one I found asks for a teaspoon of soy sauce, 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, and a small amount of dried onion flakes, along with the usual green beans, cream of mushroom soup, french fried onion rings, etc.

Here's an article about the woman who basically invented the dish over 50 years ago.

1. I have it memorized
2 cans of green beans, drained thoroughly
1 can of french fried onions, unless your fiance eats the entire can and then you need another one...put 3/4 of can into casserole and save the rest for the topping
1 can of cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup of milk, although recipe calls for 3/4...I find that too "liquidy"
alot of pepper
salt

cook for 30 minutes...add remaining ff onions and cook for 5 more minutes

some add soy sauce, I don't feel the need

I cannot wait to eat mine today!

2. I add grated
sharp cheddar and fresh chopped mushrooms to the basic recipe. Yum!

Thanks for posting the story about the origination of this Thanksgiving "must have".

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
