Found a new secret ingredient for pumpkin pie...
Mine turned-out awesome this year year thanks to (drumroll): STOUT DARK BEER

I did my normal recipe, but lacking my usual black strap molasses, in a moment of inspiration, I added BEER!

Apparently though, I didn't get there first.

This is not my exact recipe, but close enough:

GUINNESS Pumpkin Pie

1 9 inch unbaked pie shell
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
2 eggs
1 3/4 cups canned pumpkin
6 ounces Guinness Stout *Extra Stout bottle, not Draught can/bottle*

Combine sugar, salt, cinnamon, and ginger in a bowl. Lightly beat in two eggs. Stir in canned pumpkin and Guinness beer until well combined. Pour mixture into pie shell; preheat oven to 425F and bake for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350F, and bake an additional 45-50 minutes, or until fork placed in center of the pie comes out clean. Cool, and serve... http://lovelyday4aguinness.blogspot.com/2007/09/guinness-pumpkin-pie-recipe.html

5. hmm, now I want pumpkin beer or chocolate stout!

That's kind of neat. (rummages around to see if I have a bottle of Guiness in the fridge for another pie!)

6. Dayum....

I love, love, love Guinness, and have some in the pantry (I prefer most things room temperature).

I also have pumpkin pie, but I never thought of combining the two in any way.

:applause:

9. Sounds good. Last one I made, I replaced the cinnamon...
with Chinese Five Spice. It was a hit.
