I don't get why people complain about vanity sizing.
I like vanity sizing. It means I can actually shop at the store.

At a size 12, I'm one of those annoying in-between sizes that means I'm too big for a lot of skinny-girl stores, but too small for plus-size stores. At a store with vanity sizing, like Old Navy, I can comfortably fit into a medium instead of barely fitting into a large like at some stores. (And, at Costa Blanca, even the XL is way too small. What the hell?)

So, seriously. Explain to me why people complain about this?

(Oh, and just in case people feel like starting obesity wank: my doctor says I'm at a healthy weight. I'm just curvy and a bit on the tall side.)

I'd say you are one or two sizes smaller that the average U.S. female. I'm a guy, but I would think you would be a *really* easy size to find clothes for.

2. I hate vanity sizing.
Why is simple.

I have to wear dress shirts to work and dress shirts are sold inside plastic bags so that you can't take out all the pins and cardboard in order to try them on. This necessitates that one take it as a matter of truth that every 17" collar/34" sleeve/35" chest dress shirt is actually those measurement and cut the same way...I can assure you that they are not. Those numbers on a tag have no actual correlation to actual measurements, so one finds oneself buying articles of clothing they cannot try on, on-faith...or paying 5x as much for bespoke.

Likewise, it'd be nice if the 38" waist in my pants was actually 38" rather than 37" in American Apparel, 40" in Lucky Brand and 44"(!!!) in Dockers.

3. The biggest problem I have with vanity sizing is...
that it is the reason a medium at one store is barely a large at another store.

4. It's annoying not to have a consistent size no matter where you shop.
Probably because I HATE trying on clothes. It's already bad enough that you have to try different styles because some will suit and some won't but to add trying on different sizes too is just annoying as hell.

5. A lot of people shop online
or hate trying on clothes.

It would be nice if we could count on sizes to be consistent across stores.

7. I was wondering why I was swimming in an XXL Old Navy Sweater.
I like my sweaters oversized and comfy, but it was ridiculous!
